Wellems博士简介：
       Thomas E. Wellems, M.D., Ph.D.，美国科学院院士、美国国立卫生研究院（NIH）/ 过敏与传染性疾病研究所（NIAID）/ 疟疾与媒介研究实验室主任、热带病领域的国际知名科学家。Dr. Wellems 从New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology获得物理学和化学双本科学位, 从the University of Chicago's Medical Scientist Training Program获得M.D.和生物物理学Ph.D.；从the University of Pennsylvania附属医院完成住院医师培训后, 即进入the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, NIAID，开始其杰出的传染性疾病研究生涯，特别是对疟疾的研究及其治疗。迄今, Dr. Wellems已在世界顶尖学术刊物上如《Cell》、《N Engl J Med》、《Nature》、《Science》、《Nat Genet》、《Mol Cell》、《J Exp Med》、《Proc Natl Acad Sci USA》、《J Biol Chem》等发表学术论文100多篇；获得过无数的荣誉，如the Bailey K. Ashford Medal for distinguished work in tropical medicine and the LePrince A. Medal for outstanding work in the field of malariology, both from the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene; the Lincei Golgi Medal, Academia Nazionale dei Lincei, Rome; and the Howard Taylor Rickets Awards Lecture, the University of Chicago等。2007年，Dr. Wellems获得American Society for Microbiology (ASM) sanofi-aventis U.S. Award，并当选为美国科学院士。
