Course Description Teaching ObjectivesThe Ecology course comprises two main themes: “Ecology” and “Human Impact”. Firstly, we introduce the basic concepts of ecology and describe the relevance of the environment to the evolution of biodiversity. The second course theme focuses on the most important animal and the dominant ecological factor in the biosphere: Homo sapiens. We describe the effects that humans have had on the planet. The course concludes with a consideration of agricultural practices and the prospects for sustainable development.Teaching RequirementsThe basic concepts and principles of ecology are required in the course. By teaching and studying activity, students should understand the methods by which observing and analyzing ecological phenomenon and process, possess ecological and environmental consciousness, and exercise ecological principles in productions and livings. Teaching ContentsEcology is wide-ranging, complex subject that deal with the basic question: “Why does what live where?” Ecologists describe and explain patterns in the distribution and abundance of plants, animals and microorganisms. For instance, they attempt to identify the factors which give rise to the characteristic groupings of species which we find associated with particular physical environments. These include the mangrove community typical of tropical brackish water, the rainforest community of humid equatorial lands, and so on.
