课程介绍	工程力学专业英语课程中文简介为了让学生在短时期内迅速扩大专业词汇并提高阅读翻译能力，本课程按照力学课程的先后、由浅入深、适当反复的原则，广泛地摘选工程力学专业各主要学科的原版教材，其中包括材料力学、弹性力学、塑性力学、结构力学、振动力学、流体力学、结构风振力学、海洋结构动力学、光测力学等内容。另外还添加板壳力学、钢结构、钢筋混凝土结构、土力学等方面的课外阅读材料，以供教学及自学参考。多年的教学实践证明，本课程对工程力学专业的英语词汇的典型性较强，覆盖面较宽，经过一学期的学习，学生均能掌握1000 个左右的专业词汇。同时对力学专业，包括对工业与民用建筑专业及数学有关专业的英语资料的阅读能力和翻译水平提高有显著的帮助。通过本课程的学习，要求学生们基本掌握工程力学专业英语文献中的专业词汇、专业术语、阅读技巧，了解专业科技英语的常规写作格式、语法、特点，增加学生们对科技文献的理解程度，及英译汉时汉语表达能力，学会一些常规的专业表达式、术语、公式等的英文描述和口语说法，具有独立阅读和理解本专业相关的原文科技期刊和专业论著的能力，以及查询与本专业相关的最新科技发展动态的能力。 Course Description This specialized optional course is attended for the students to enlarge their volumes of specialized words and to enhance their ability to reading foreign materials and translating from English into Chinese in a short period. It is designed step by step, from the beginner level to the advanced level, following the procedures of mechanics courses. Some of foreign text books on some disciplines of engineering mechanics have been extensively adopted in this course, which includes mechanics of material, theory of elasticity, theory of plasticity, structural analysis, dynamics of structures, mechanics of vibrations, fluid mechanics, dynamic effects of wind, dynamic analysis of offshore structures, photoelasticity and techniques of finite elements. Moreover, some reading materials on theory of shell structures, basic characteristics of soils, cylindrical shells under symmetric loading, steel structures design and behavior, and structural concrete have also been appended as for exercises or self-study materials. Some previous practice shows that this course can provide a comprehensive coverage of the specialized words of engineering mechanics. The students can know well about 1000 specialized words if they can pass the exam of this course. Meanwhile, this course is also helpful for the students majoring in the civil engineering as well as in some related specialties of mathematics.
