中外文化导论 课程中文简介
大学英语四段拓展文化类模块课程描述为了满足新时期大学生综合文化素质和英语水平拓展需要，根据大学英语课程改革的精神要求，我们郑重推出文化类课程模块，辅助大学生更直接全面地关注理解世界，投入全球文化大融合，成为面向未来的创新型复合人才，在二十一世纪的地球村，学习成长为能够自省、自如、自信的好村民。语言是文化的载体，学习外语更是一个漫长复杂的过程。当今世界，英语无疑是各国间最为通用的语言，只有掌握了英语及其承载的丰富厚重的文化，我们才能更好地探索和联通中外文化世界，传递中国的丰富和精彩，发掘世界的深奥和美妙。《中外文化导读》是本模块的主要课程之一，材料内容精选于中英美三国的官方网站、报刊杂志和文字评论，兼顾语言文字的规范及内容的思想性、趣味性和前瞻性，从历史、教育、经济、政治、体育和民俗等方面，展示中国及两个主要英语国家的文化风貌。该课程由阅读和视听说两个部分组成。阅读部分重在背景知识拓展和语言欣赏及快速阅读能力提高，而视听说部分则强调直观性趣味性，综合交互，相辅相成，语言知识能力从实践中来到实践中去。通过拓展文化类课程学习训练，大学生能够进一步提高英语语言技能，重点强化中英美历史文化解读能力，以达到全面开阔视野、提高素质的目的；在此同时，大学生能够获得多视角的积极客观的社会文化解读方法，培养对多元文化的敏感性、鉴赏力和宽容度，在越来越频密的跨文化交际中占据有利地位。
Course Description
Having obtained a solid base of English language skills with years of hard-working, university students in China are looking forward to broader horizon and higher level of understanding of overall western culture when faced with challenges of the modern society. In order to meet that increasing demand, we have great honor to introduce “Outlook on Cultures” as one of the courses of further development for sophomores. This course aims to bring ease, confidence and keen cultural awareness to university students in China who wish to fly high in the modern world. There is no doubt that language is vital to the preservation of human societies because it is the primary means of cultural transmission. With rapid development of globalization, English language is increasingly recognized as the most important international working language in various social arenas. Meanwhile cross cultural communication is obviously taking place in unprecedented intensity and frequency. Therefore, it is essential to equip ourselves with a sound understanding of cultures of major English-speaking countries as well as our own, which boasts a fantastic heritage of five thousand years, made even clearer in different perspectives.As a major course in the module, “Outlook in Cultures” provides extensive reading and video watching followed by workshops on various tasks. Students will have opportunities to learn more and exchange opinions on western culture with regard to history, education, economy, politics, sports, social customs and so on. Classroom activities include reading, watching video and discussions carefully integrated with each other so that it is informative, inspiring as well as entertaining for all members of the class.
